DescriptionWhy buy the Winton W‑FB145 Flail Mower?
The W-FB145 is the largest of Winton's three W-FB flail mowers and sits at the top of the range. It's aimed at smallholders with bigger paddocks and a compact tractor with the power to pull a wider cut.
Built for rough pasture, not lawns
24 hammer-style blades ride a cylindrical rotor, chopping brambles, nettles and tussocky grass into finer cuttings that rot down faster. The mower handles uneven ground better than a finish mower or topper, and suits paddocks between livestock rotations or field margins gone wild.
Set the height, keep the scalp off
Twin height-adjustable skids set cutting height between 3 and 8 cm. The rear roller adjusts in the same range and works with the top link to fine-tune the mower's angle across lumpy ground.
Fit and drive
The W-FB145 mounts to a Cat 1 three-point linkage, with a lower linkage width of 49–69 cm. Power runs from the PTO through 3 drive belts to the rotor shaft — worth knowing, as belts are a service item over time.
- 1.45m working width — widest in the W-FB range, more ground per pass
- Matched to 25–40 HP compact tractors
- 24 hammer-style blades on a cylindrical rotor for brambles and tough growth
- Cutting height 3–8 cm via twin adjustable skids
- Adjustable rear roller pairs with the top link to set mower angle
- Belt drive from PTO with 3 drive belts to the rotor shaft
- 290 kg; lower linkage width 49–69 cm — check your tractor's lift capacity

Great service
Good price Great delivery
I’ve used this Flail to cut our 6.5 acres a couple of times now, if I leave it too long between cuts then some parts of the field have a type of grass/reed that will wrap around the flail and stall the mower burning out the belts very quickly - so attention when using is required! – I’ve hit multiple rocks and the mower has coped with these no problem. All in all 4 out of 5, very happy price vs. performance, just wish I got a wider one!
I have only used the flail a handful of times since I bought it but so far it seems to work very well. Having said that, it hasn’t been worked hard so time will tell but so far I think it is a good piece of equipment for a reasonable price.
Brad a great machine. I run it behind a vintage MF35X for maintaining our three paddocks and the road verge. Does exactly what it says on the tin!
