DescriptionWhy buy the Winton W‑FL105 Flail Mower?
The W-FL105 is the entry point to Winton's W-FL flail mower family. At 1.05m working width and an 18–30 HP tractor requirement, it suits smallholders and compact tractor owners whose plots don't justify the larger siblings. It mounts on a Cat 1 three-point linkage with a 60 cm lower linkage width.
Built for overgrown grass and weeds
16 hammer-style blades ride a spiral-pattern rotor, driven from the PTO through a three-belt drive to the rotor shaft. The mower bites into tough, neglected growth where a topper would bounce, then leaves a fine finish once the grass is back under control. It's offset from centre, so the cut clears the tractor's wheel line.
Cut height and scalp control
Cutting height adjusts between 3 cm and 8 cm via the rear roller and two repositionable skids. The roller holds the mower steady on uneven ground and keeps the blades off the dirt on lawn and sports-turf work.
- Working width 1.05m — the narrowest in the W-FL family
- Tractor range 18–30 HP on Cat 1 linkage, 60 cm lower linkage width
- 16 hammer-style blades on a spiral-pattern rotor
- Cutting range 3–8 cm, set by rear roller and two adjustable skids
- PTO driven, three belts to the rotor shaft
- Offset from centre to mow past the tractor wheel line
- 210 kg; 80 × 119 × 76 cm

FeaturesWinton W‑FL105 Flail Mower features & benefits
High Density Vegetation
Winton flail mowers are designed to power through thick brambles, dense weeds, saplings and long grass. They can also leave a neat finish on regularly cut grass.
Professional Use
Professional-grade machines are built tough and use premium components. In additional to being exceptionally reliable, they achieve great results and are very efficient.
Strong & Simple to Maintain
The chassis is constructed from thick steel and is built to be easy to maintain and repair. They feature higher quality bearings, blades and gearboxes over many rival models.
Heavy Duty Gearbox
Winton gearboxes are heavy-duty and robustly made. They are highly reliable and significantly larger than other machines in their price bracket, allowing more power to be transferred through them.
Heavy Hammer Flails
The heavy hammer blades are arranged spirally for an efficient cut. These blades will smash through dense vegetation and brambles and also give you a neat finish on fine grass when used regularly.
Tractor CompatibilityCheck tractor fit for the Winton WFL series
Compatibility is based on standard tractor specifications, such as a 540RPM clockwise PTO, Type 1 or 2 linkage, and hydraulic spools where required.

The Flail Mower has been excellent
The Flail Mower has been excellent and rates a 5. Your service and attention also rates a 5 .
Very well built
Very well built and already taken a lot of hammer on our rough land. Would pay a bit more for a spare set of sharp blade cutters for alternative grass types.

Thank you for the feedback. I recommend caution if buying Y-Blades for a machine originally fitted with Hammers (and vice-versa). Some machines can be supplied with either blade style, but they aren't recommended to be interchanged. This is due to the rotor being balanced with one type of blade, which may cause vibration when fitted with a different blade style with a significantly higher or lower mass. Replacement hammer blades are readily available for your machine. Replacing worn, blunt blades with new ones will help improve the finish of your grass.
I would recommend it to others
I have been using the WFL105 for annually cutting back brambles, thorn and nettles which are trying to encroach on my wildflower meadows. I also cut back long tussocky grass in the wrong place and cut paths through the meadows. I drive it with a 17HP Yanmar tractor and , at times, I could do with more HP in the more dense growth ! I have the hammer flails rather than the Y flails and they work well on most things but sometimes get clogged with the longer tussocky grass. Overall the machine does what I wanted it to do and I would recommend it to others.

Thank you for the feedback, David. Tussock grass is always difficult, but a few things can help with this. 1) Cut the grass in two passes, one high and one at the final height. 2) Reduce your tractor's forward speed, allowing the mower more time to cut through the grass. 3) Cut the grass mounds more regularly
It is a well-built and solid bit of kit
I have used the flail mower for two seasons now, more through 2021 than last season, as I initially needed to get quite a lot of long grass and weeds under control (I was cutting about three acres of fairly rough ground with it). The machine performed well, although I was towing it behind a rather underpowered Kubota Diesel tractor generating about 18hp. The cut was quite short and even, which meant that I could follow up with a quick mow and tidy up using my John Deere ride-on mower subsequently. The only problem I encountered was having to lift the flail at the end of each run because the turning circle was quite tight and the flails tended to get jammed on the turn by the grass and stall the tractor engine. No doubt a more powerful tractor would have overcome this issue. Overall I have been pleased with the machine. It is a well-built and solid bit of kit and has solved my problem of dealing with areas of ground that have not been mowed for a number of years. I can recommend it to anyone having to tackle a similar situation. Based on my personal circumstances I would rate it at four out of five.
Excellent service
Excellent service, answered my questions promptly and arranged good well packaged delivery. Will be using Zaros again!!
Brilliant little mower for my Iseki TGX237. Well built and possibly over engineered for a 23hp tractor but better that than having something that will brake!!
Two years of faultless service already.
I’m really pleased with my Winton flail. I’m not a large scale farmer but have about 3 acres which is meadow and beehives. It’s a small scale machine but built to full scale standards and suits my Kubota compact mower very well. Five out of Five for me from two years of faultless service already.
Good for keeping self seeded saplings down.
Bought it to keep some rough grassland in check. Does the job, though does tend to flatten longer grass rather than cut it sometimes. Good for keeping self seeded saplings down.
I have been very happy with my Winton flail mower. It has done everything I wanted with no problems. I would give it a five star rating and can confidently recommend it to anybody.
Ive only used both items maybe 3 or 4 times since buying them just over a year agp. I jusy use them occasionally. I have been delighted with the products, especially the Winton flail mower. As a comparison, I bought a brand new Bomford Bandit flail in 1988 which I used for 36 years. I loved it, but I like the Winton better; itjust has the edge. Maybe not as robust as the bandit and doubt it will go for 30+ years. But I'll let my grandson worry about that, lol. And as a comoarison, my Winton has just cost me almost the same as the Bandit did. In a nutshell. I'm really happy and would (already have) recommended this to several friends.
Just reply to say that fail mower is best I have brought have not had any problems with it

Customer Service
I purchased a Winton Flail Mower from Zaros last year, a smooth and efficient transaction, and an effective and sturdy piece of machinery. I've recently needed to order some additional parts and also needed consumable items for the mower (drive belts). The service I've had from Annie at Zaros has been absolutely superb. Very quick turn around, excellent and prompt communication and customer service delivery matching what we would hope for. Brilliant and highly recommended.
I purchased a Winton WFL125 flail mower…
I purchased a Winton WFL125 flail mower in August of 2021. It works perfectly with my 30hp Kubota tractor and tackles everything I throw at it. It has compared very well to my 180cm Del Morini flail that I also use. I prefer the Winton when it comes to servicing such as gear box oil changes and greasing the bearings. Zaros delivered the mower ready to use with everything checkout over. I would recommend Zaros & Winton to anyone.

Good service - on time delivery
Good service, delivered on time with good communication throughout the purchase process. Winton 1.75 flail mower working well. Will use Zaros again.
Great service, good advice and delivered when agreed
Great service, good advice and delivered when agreed. Mower is perfect for what I need (8 acres of paddock) and has been trouble-free.
It is much more effective than my finishing mower
The WFL175 mower is working well - I am not a heavy user but I have had no issues with it at all. It works on fairly thick paddock and longish field grass (some had not been cut for over a year). It is much more effective than my finishing mower that struggled with longer field grass and brushwood. I am using the mower with a vintage MF35X and it has no problem running it.
Value for money is excellent
Very pleased with the machine. The flail has been an great purchase, cutting through some very long and thick meadows and grass areas. Flail munches up the cuttings well so not too much debris left to collect. Value for money is excellent.
I bought the flail mower last year and it’s been great, already mowed 6 acres ready for the horses to move in this year.
