DescriptionWhy buy the Winton WHB-A04 4" Auger?

The WHB-A04 is the narrowest auger in the Winton W-HBF family, and it's the one to pick when the job is fencing a paddock rather than hanging a gate. At 7.5 cm wide it matches standard timber fence-post diameters — the hole grips the post, the backfill stays put, and you're not wasting half a barrow of spoil per hole.

The right size for fence-post work

Larger siblings in the range are there for gateposts, structural timbers and tree pits. This one is sized down deliberately. If you're walking a fence line setting posts every few metres, a wider bore just makes more work at the backfill stage.

Depth to seat a post properly

Working depth runs to 90 cm, which gets a post below the frost line and into firm subsoil — the difference between a fence that holds livestock for a decade and one that leans after the first wet winter.

An add-on bit, not a standalone borer

This is the auger only. It fits the Winton W-HBF main hole borer unit, so you'll need that already in the yard (or on the order) for this to do any work.

  • Working width: 7.5 cm — narrowest in the W-HBF auger range
  • Working depth: 90 cm, below typical frost line
  • Tractor range: 20–50 HP, suiting most compact paddock tractors
  • Fitment: add-on auger for the Winton W-HBF post hole borer
  • Best for: timber fence posts, stake markers and narrow support posts
