Launched by Henry Ford in 1917, the Fordson tractor became a market leader by being the first lightweight, mass-produced tractor that was accessible to everyday farmers. This innovation marked a significant leap forward in agricultural machinery, helping to alleviate the physical strain of farming labor. Due to its cost-effective production, the Fordson quickly gained widespread popularity in the USA. In 1928, production moved to the UK, where the Fordson name remained in use until 1964. That year, Ford consolidated its North American and European tractor lines under the Ford name, phasing out the Fordson brand. Despite this, the Fordson models set important precedents in the design and manufacture of agricultural equipment.
