ATV-towed paddock levelling and mole-hill knockdown
Drag, level and finish a paddock without uncoupling - flip the bed for aggressive, medium or light tine work. At 4 ft and 50 kg, the William Hackett H‑HC04 tows behind a quad or 4x4, biting moleheaps and droppings without bogging the bike, and stores in a modest shed.

DescriptionWhy buy the William Hackett H-HC04 Chain Harrow?
If you're keeping a couple of paddocks tidy with a quad or 4x4, the H-HC04 is the William Hackett mat to reach for. It's the entry size in the range — 4 ft across, 50 kg on the grass — and it hitches straight to a towing eye via a simple pin hitch.
Flip the mat to match the job
The tines work three ways. Drop them point-down for an aggressive bite through compacted turf or flattened mole heaps. Turn the mat over for a medium pass. Run it upturned for a light spring tickle across established pasture, or to scatter dung after the ponies have been out.
Light enough for a quad, heavy enough to bite
50 kg is the sweet spot for ATV work — the mat tracks the ground and digs in, but it won't sink a quad on soft going. The drawbar is heavy steel tube with a chain draft, strengthened by a steel attachment bar with welded spacers, so it shrugs off seasons of paddock use.
- 4 ft working width — smallest in the William Hackett harrow family
- 50 kg weight, sized for ATV and 4x4 towing
- 3-way tines: aggressive, medium or light harrowing by flipping the mat
- Pin hitch linkage — fits quads, 4x4s and compact tractors
- Carbon steel construction with heavy steel drawbar and chain draft
- 120 × 152 cm footprint — stores in a smaller shed than the larger siblings
- British made for paddock and smallholding work
- Levels mole heaps, spreads droppings and aerates turf for stronger regrowth

Review Your William Hackett H-HC04
I would rate it a 5
had the harrow chains a good while now and must say they are very well made, strong and do a great job they can smooth out ground soil one side and harrow ground, paddocks ect on the other side - if you add old spare tyres on top to add a bit of extra weight you can also ruff up the ground deeper to get rid of all lumps and bumps. We have used it on rough ground we are developing, paddocks ready for seeding and the horse arena to smooth out the surface ready for training. great product - strong build - just the job
I've used your chain harrow to open up my organic flower meadow - taking our some of the moss to help with increasing our orchid numbers. Worked a treat, wasn't too harsh on the soil - this year's orchids were amazing!. Easy to tow using my ATV. Many thanks
Well made, effective and easy to use set of harrows
We havenever used another harrow so can't compare but we are pleased with the performance, it doea the job of breaking the ground in the paddock for seeding and is good at spreading horse manure.
The chain harrow has been a very useful tool for helping manage our paddocks. The different ways that it can be dragged make it flexible and allowing you to adjust how aggressive you want to be. The build is good quality and robust. It would be great if there was a way that it could be weighted to give a really deep/aggressive harrow. It is a 4 out of 5 piece of equipment.

Harrow weights can be purchased alongside the harrow, for a more vigorous and thorough effect.
I am happy with the harrows. I use them for a sand equine arena and they do the job they were purchase for. I would definitely score a 4/5.
My experience with the harrow is that it has worked well for my requirements, which are light harrowing of a number of paddocks. I would rate as 4 out of 5 for that type of work however if deeper/ more robust harrowing is required then to use the William Hackett harrow requires a weight to be strapped on. This enables the harrow to dig in slightly more and flatten out deeper indentations in the field.
I purchased a harrow and a roller from you over 12 months ago. Both of which arrived on time and were well packaged. I have an 8 acre small holding and tow the roller and harrow over my land behind a John Deere Gator and am thrilled with them both. They still look as good as they did when I bought them. I will use you again for sure.
Tough bit of kit. Does the job
